The Purpose
Introducing the 54 UD Carbon Spoke Disc, utilising our proven TaperLock carbon spoke technology, resulting in fully serviceable carbon-spoked wheels that can be trued like any other. With significant increases in lateral stiffness (see testing info below), they have been engineered to provide a stiffness-to-weight ratio previously unseen on serviceable wheels.
6% more laterally responsive than identical steel spoked wheel, with significantly less weight. Further benefiting from the high-frequency vibration absorption capabilities of carbon fibre in the UD spokes, as well as the rim. Please see graph in the "read more" section below.

Using an innovative spoke-seating method, the 54 UD Carbon Spoke Disc wheelset offers carbon spokes that are held purely mechanically, with no bonding required. We call this TaperLock, and it allows for carbon spokes that can be trued and maintained just like a normal steel spoke.
The TaperLock UD Carbon Spokes are incredibly strong, achieving over 450 kgf (kilograms force per spoke) maximum tensile strength, compared to leading steel spokes which conventionally reach around 300 kgf.
For HUNT, aerodynamics and stiffness have to be considered as component parts of a more holistic understanding of performance componentry. That's why we always design with serviceability and usability in mind, because there's no point having a fast wheel you can't use with your favourite tyre, or that you can't easily maintain.

- Maximum tyre pressure for this rim is 100psi when used with 25-28mm tyres. 100 psi is more than enough for any rider on road. to listen to a podcast exploring the science of why lower pressures were found to be faster by pro teams.
- Maximum tyre pressures for other tyre sizes: 30mm - 32mm do not exceed 70psi, 33mm do not exceed 50psi, 35-45mm do not exceed 45psi, 45-50mm do not exceed 40psi
- Please do not exceed the maximum pressure stated on your tyre.
- Suitable for tyres from 23mm up to 50mm wide.
- Suitable tubeless road, gravel and CX tyres are available from a huge range of companies.

- These wheels are available with all existing disc brake road bike axle adapter sizes. All our axle adapters are easy to swap but we'll fit the adapters your bike needs to save you the work. After your order checkout is completed a simple form will show, as well as being sent to you in your confirmation email. The form allows you to select the axle size your bike needs, don't worry it also includes the option to tell us your bike model and we will find out and then fit the correct axles, plus we're happy to change them later at our cost if you don't quite get it right. Warranty, HUNT Rolling Road Tests & Weight Limits
A full 3 years from purchase date warranty is offered to the original purchaser only on all Hunt bike wheels against material or workmanship defects,
All HUNT wheels models have to pass our harsh cobbled-rolling-road tests for rider weight limits, . Max system weight 120kg (system weight – total weight of fully kitted up rider, bike and luggage). If a rider is over 105Kgs then an experienced bike mechanic should check the wheel regularly and it is advisable to use tyres at max 90psi as this will reduce the fatigue on the wheelset. We are cyclists ourselves and do of course go above and beyond to offer excellent service if you ever do experience any issues. We carry full spares at very reasonable prices and offer complete support.
